The short answer
Nightbot's built-in commands are !commands, !filters, !permit, !game, !title, !tags, !marker, !commercial, !poll, !regulars, !songs, !winner and !nightbot. Your own commands are the ones you made with !commands add. Bloopbot can bring your own commands over for you, and it has an equivalent for nearly every built-in one, either built in or as a ready-made flow you switch on. The table below lists each one.
To move your own commands, use the importer: it reads your public Nightbot command list and turns each command into a flow, with its userlevel and cooldown, and you don't sign in to Nightbot. Coming from Nightbot walks through it.
Nightbot's built-in commands in Bloopbot
| Nightbot command | What it does in Nightbot | In Bloopbot |
|---|---|---|
!commands | Links to your channel's command list | !commands replies with your public Commands page, from the Commands link flow in the Starter pack (point viewers at your Commands page) |
!commands add, edit, delete | Makes, changes or removes a command from chat | You make and change commands on Flows, in a form or on the canvas (create your first chat command). There is no chat command for it |
!filters | Manages the spam filters | Built in for moderators: !filters, !filters enable links, !filters disable caps (what moderators can do from chat) |
!permit | Lets a viewer post a link for a short time | Built in for moderators: !permit username, 60 seconds unless you change it on Moderation |
!game, !title | Shows or changes your category or title | !game and !title in the Mod commands pack (add a helper flow) |
!tags | Shows your stream tags | No equivalent yet. Change tags on Twitch |
!marker | Drops a stream marker | A command flow with a Stream marker step, such as a moderators-only !mark (mark a moment for your highlights) |
!commercial | Runs an ad | A command flow with a Run a commercial step. It needs Twitch Affiliate or Partner (check which Twitch features your channel can use) |
!poll | Makes a Strawpoll | A command flow with a Run a Twitch poll step, which runs a real Twitch poll (start a poll or prediction from a flow) |
!regulars add, delete | Manages your Regulars list | !regulars add name, !regulars remove name and !regulars, three flows for moderators (recognise regular viewers) |
!songs (!songs request and the rest) | YouTube and SoundCloud song requests | !sr, !song and !srstatus from the Song requests pack, playing through your own Spotify Premium account (take Spotify song requests) |
!winner | Picks a random chatter | A command flow with a Pick at random step set to Someone in chat, or a full giveaway with a keyword to enter |
!nightbot join, part | Brings the bot into your chat or out of it | Nothing to type: the bot joins when you connect your channel. Make it a moderator so it can act (make the bot a moderator) |
Your own commands and their variables
A command you made with !commands add !name reply becomes a flow: a Chat command trigger, a check for its userlevel or cooldown where it had one, and a Chat message with the reply. $(user), $(touser), $(query) and $(1) to $(9) mean the same in Bloopbot, and the importer rewrites most of the rest, such as $(count) and $(twitch …) lookups, into their Bloopbot form. Variables lists every one, including the few with no equivalent, such as $(eval) and $(weather).
What works differently
- Commands live on a page, not in chat. You build and edit them on Flows, where each one can do more than reply: add a check, keep a count, show an alert or start a poll.
- Moderators still run the stream from chat.
!permit,!filters,!blacklistand!whitelistare built in for moderators, and packs add the rest. - It runs in the cloud. Like Nightbot, there is nothing to install, and your commands keep answering when your PC is off.
- Only one bot should answer. Once a Bloopbot flow does a command's job, switch that command off in Nightbot, so chat doesn't get two replies (turn off the old bot).
Troubleshooting
- A command gets two replies. Nightbot is still answering it. Switch the command off in Nightbot's dashboard.
- A moderator command does nothing. Check the person has the moderator badge in your chat, and that the bot is a moderator too.
- The bot doesn't answer at all. Check the flow is switched on. Troubleshooting covers commands that stay silent.
