# Post to X when you go live on Twitch

Bloopbot posts to X when your Twitch stream starts, with your title, category, a picture of the stream and your channel link, once per stream. X charges per post; Bloopbot shows the cost first.

## What your followers see

The starter text is:

with a picture of your stream, and X builds its own card for the link. Change the text to anything you like; **Insert…** adds values such as your title, category and channel link. Keep the title in it: X refuses text it has already published from the same account.

- **280 characters, counted the way X counts.** A link counts as 23 however long it is, an emoji as 2. The step's preview counts the same way, and longer text is cut with … rather than in the middle of a link.

## What it costs

X charges for every post an app makes on your behalf: $0.20 for a post with a link and $0.015 without. Bloopbot passes that on from an **X balance** on your channel.

- Add X balance in $5.99 top-ups, plus VAT or sales tax where it applies. $5.00 of each goes to X; the rest covers card fees and changes in X's pricing. You need no subscription: a channel on Free can top up.
- The X card on **Connections** shows the balance and about how many posts it covers, for example _X balance: $4.60 · about 23 posts with a link_. The balance never expires.
- A post that fails costs nothing. **Send test post** shows the cost before anything goes out.
- On a paid plan you can connect your own X developer app instead, and X bills you directly.

## The flow

The **Socials** pack's **Post to X when you go live** is four steps you can open and change:

1. **Stream starts or ends**, set to **Live**.
2. **Variable is**: this stream hasn't been announced on X yet.
3. **Post to X**, with the text, the picture and a live preview of the post and its count.
4. **Set a variable**: remember this stream once X confirms the post.

So a short disconnect doesn't post, or charge, twice.

## Set it up

1. Open **Connections**, choose **X** and press **Connect X**. Approve Bloopbot on X.
2. Press **Add X balance**, or connect your own X developer app.
3. On **Flows**, press **Add** and add the **Socials** pack. Its flows install paused.
4. Open **Post to X when you go live**, press **Send test post** and check the post and its cost.
5. Switch the flow on.

Posting to X may not be available on your channel yet. **Connections** shows which networks your channel can connect.
